Make Race Morning a Thoughtless Process It doesn’t matter what part of the triathlon season you’re in, making a list helps make race morning a thoughtless process. If you think this is silly, most athletes are scattered brained the night before and day of a race. By being prepared and eliminating extra thinking, you will alleviate any extra stress. MAKE A LIST Make a list of what you will need for swim, bike & run on race day. Think about what you have done in the past. What did you need, but didn’t have? What could you have eliminated? Less is usually better, but you also don’t want to be too stingy.
After making the list, set it down and then come back to it a couple days later to review it. Did you forget anything? Do you have all of this stuff at home? Are you sure? Because if not, buying it now will save last minute aggravation later. Once you feel your list is complete, review it with your coach or training buddies to make sure you haven’t overlooked anything. Your list will come in handy when packing your bags the night before your race. You won’t have to think very hard and you’ll sleep well. All you have to do is check off the items in your list. After each race, refine your lists as necessary. Comments are closed.
