Forced Extra Time This is the time of year many of us get to put our fitness to the test and race. Unfortunately, it seems like each day another race is being canceled or postponed. Or maybe you’re injured. Regardless, instead of letting this drive you nuts, it’s time to take control and REFRAME YOUR GOALS. Use this “forced extra time” to your advantage. — Short VIDEO at the Bottom -- Take Control You don’t have to totally KABASH your goals, you will just likely just have to postpone them… which is fine. Successful people do this all of the time. It’s just a part of the process. When you decide to reframe your goals, think about all of the things you CAN CONTROL, and FORGET ABOUT THE THINGS YOU CANNOT CONTROL. Start by revisiting your current goals. Write down the smaller components that may help contribute to your ultimate goal – that has now been postponed. For example, the bike portion of most triathlons take the longest time to complete. Perhaps you want to become a better cyclist in order to take a chunk of time off of your bike time on your next race. Build the Pieces to the Puzzle Think of these “little things” as pieces to the bigger puzzle. If you don’t have all of the pieces, the end result is not going to be as good as it could… or should be. Depending on who you are and what your goals look like, having “forced” extra time to achieve them can be a HUGE OPPORTUNITY. Shift Your Mindset So, shift your mindset, adjust your goals and think of your time now as “bonus time” instead of a delay. Use this time to emerge as a stronger, fitter, more complete athlete.
